New Fairfield and Berlin players lead with multiple hat tricks in Connecticut girls soccer action

New Fairfield’s girls soccer team saw two players deliver hat tricks in their recent 7-0 rout of Harding/Bassick, while Berlin’s Payton Demko scored three goals in an 8-2 win over Platt, pushing their record to 3-2-4.

Freshman Hana Alimi and sophomore Kara Biasetti each netted three goals for New Fairfield in separate matches. Alimi’s hat trick helped the Rebels secure a 5-2 victory against Housatonic, while Biasetti’s came in the dominant shutout over Harding/Bassick. The Rebels’ offense proved relentless, outscoring their opponents by wide margins in both outings.

Berlin’s junior forward Payton Demko was equally impressive on October 5, scoring a hat trick in an 8-0 win away at Platt. Berlin Athletics’ official Twitter account confirmed the result, highlighting Demko’s contribution alongside Dakota Soellner and Carolina Foster, who each scored twice. Ava Szafranski added a goal, and Lily Zerio contributed two assists in the match.

Several other players produced multi-goal performances across the state last week. North Branford’s sophomore Brynn Bello scored four goals in a 6-2 victory over Portland, while Old Lyme’s senior Anna Bussmann recorded hat tricks in two consecutive wins—4-1 over Hale-Ray and 5-2 against North Branford. Meanwhile, Montville’s Kylie Fry, a sophomore, scored a hat trick in the first half of a 5-0 win versus Griswold.

Simsbury’s senior Addison Girard stood out with seven goals and two assists in three victories over Lewis Mills, Avon, and Bristol Central. Olivia Tilki, a freshman at Seymour, scored five goals and provided an assist in a 7-1 win against Oxford, then added three goals and an assist in a 6-0 victory over Ansonia.

Other notable efforts included Madison Hubbard’s hat trick for Stonington in a 4-0 win versus Woodstock Academy, and Allisen Pleil’s two hat tricks for Wolcott Tech in wins over Goodwin Tech and Bullard-Havens.

On the defensive side, Malena Gugliotti of Wethersfield recorded three shutouts last week, including a 1-0 win over Berlin, marking her fifth consecutive clean sheet. Amarra Holmes of Old Saybrook also posted her seventh shutout in a 6-0 win against Portland.

Several goalkeepers made critical contributions. Mercy’s Molly Benson not only scored a goal but also provided two assists in a 6-0 win over West Haven. Meanwhile, Cara Williams of Notre Dame Prep held a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory over Newtown, marking her eighth shutout of the season.

Elsewhere, Derby/O’Brien Tech came from behind to defeat Wolcott 3-2, securing their first NVL victory since 2013.

Upcoming matches of note include St. Joseph facing Trumbull on Tuesday, a major FCIAC clash between town rivals known for their combined 18 shutouts. Hall will visit Simsbury on Thursday, aiming to hand the Trojans their first loss, and Greenwich will meet St. Joseph on Friday in a No. 1 versus No. 2 matchup.

Berlin’s 8-2 win over Platt, powered by Demko’s hat trick and strong team support, was the latest confirmation of the Redcoats’ offensive firepower this season.
