No. 1 Nebraska will test its unbeaten Big Ten run on Thursday night against No. 16 Penn State in a match set for 7 p.m. ET at Rec Hall in University Park, Pennsylvania.
Nebraska enters the game undefeated in conference play after sweeping Rutgers and Ohio State in straight sets over the weekend. The Huskers are concluding a nine-game stretch at home before heading to Penn State, aiming to maintain their flawless record.
The Nittany Lions, with a 9-3 overall mark, have held a spot in the nation’s top 25 despite recent setbacks. Losses to No. 11 Tennessee and unranked Michigan State have dropped Penn State to No. 16, but a win over the top-ranked Huskers would significantly improve their standing.
The match will be broadcast nationally on the Big Ten Network, with streaming available on fubo. The streaming service offers a free trial, allowing viewers without cable to watch the game live.
Penn State’s upcoming schedule includes games against Iowa, Northwestern, Washington, and UCLA, with the Nebraska match kicking off their October slate. The Huskers’ schedule features back-to-back road matches at Maryland and Indiana following the Penn State game before returning home against Wisconsin.
Both teams have displayed strength in different areas this season. Nebraska’s straight-set victories at home highlight their consistency, while Penn State’s ability to remain competitive nationally despite recent losses suggests resilience.
The Huskers’ challenge will be to extend their undefeated run beyond Lincoln and withstand the pressure of an energized Penn State squad playing in front of its home crowd. The Nittany Lions will be eager to capitalize on the opportunity to push a top-ranked opponent and climb higher in the rankings.
On Thursday, the first serve at Rec Hall will determine whether Nebraska can keep its unblemished Big Ten record or if Penn State can pull off a crucial conference win.
