Darwin Nunez, a 27-year-old striker linked to Barcelona, is reportedly close to agreeing a loan move to Galatasaray.
A source close to the negotiations has confirmed that Nunez is seeking a new challenge after one season in Saudi Arabian football, where he struggled to make an impact at Al-Hilal.
Despite being under contract until 2028, Nunez has expressed his desire to leave Al-Hilal and is expected to sign with a new club in the coming days.
The Uruguayan international has been linked with several clubs, including FC Barcelona, who view him as a potential option if their primary attacking targets fail to materialise.
However, a loan move to Galatasaray appears to be the most likely outcome, with Nunez seeking guaranteed playing time and a lower salary than what is available in the MLS.
The proposed deal would see Nunez join the Turkish club on a loan until the end of the season, with Al-Hilal unwilling to let him leave for a low fee after investing €55 million in his signing last summer.
Meanwhile, Atlanta United have also submitted an offer to Al-Hilal to sign Nunez, but the Uruguayan international prefers to return to Europe over a move to the USA.
Barcelona, who are currently prioritising a move for Atletico Madrid and Argentina forward Julian Alvarez, may be interested in Nunez as an alternative option, but a move for him seems unlikely at this point.
The 27-year-old striker has been offered to the Blaugrana, but there has been no movement from the Catalan club so far.
It remains to be seen whether Nunez will ultimately join Galatasaray or explore other options, but one thing is certain – his future is set to be decided in the coming days.
