Western Sydney's Milanovic: 'I'm Coming Home'
The Western Sydney Wanderers have secured the return of their Johnny Warren Medal-winning winger, Nicolas Milanovic, from Aberdeen.
Milanovic, 24, has been sold back to the A-League outfit, where he initially made a name for himself two seasons ago.
The Australian winger has been playing in Scotland for the past year, but his spell with Aberdeen was marked by disappointment, with Milanovic playing 24 times without scoring.
Milanovic's decision to return to Western Sydney comes after a disappointing season with the Scottish Premiership club. He has been quoted as saying, "This club has always meant a lot to me and I'm incredibly proud to be back representing Western Sydney."
The move is seen as a significant boost for the struggling Wanderers, who dropped from fourth in the league two seasons ago to bottom of the 12 teams last term. Milanovic is confident of a resurgence on his return, stating, "I know what this club is building and I want to be part of it."
Western Sydney, who have Scotland cap Ryan Fraser on the other wing, say they are welcoming back a "hometown hero" and "one of Australian football's most exciting attacking talents" who can help them challenge for trophies.
The club's head coach, Ufuk Talay, is thrilled to have Milanovic back in the fold, saying, "Nic's an exciting player who brings energy, power and quality in the final third. He's someone who can create and score goals and he is a fantastic addition to the squad we are building."
Milanovic's experience overseas will undoubtedly help him settle back into the A-League, but for now, the focus is on making sure he enjoys his football again. As Talay puts it, "When Nic is playing with confidence and freedom, he's one of the best players in the competition."
