The Detroit News has published the complete Week 3 scores for high school football across Metro Detroit, and the slate opened with a series of lopsided results that left little doubt about the region's early season hierarchy.
Thursday night brought the most emphatic statement of the week. Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood rolled past Waterford Lady Lakes 64-0 in Catholic League play, a margin that required no late-game theatrics and offered no room for interpretation. The shutout was one of several on the day. Detroit East English blanked Detroit Western 51-0 in PSL action, while Birmingham Groves shut out Southfield A&T 42-0 and Ferndale did the same to Berkley, winning 48-0 in OAA competition.
The closest contest of the evening came in the Lakes Valley conference, where South Lyon East edged North Farmington 35-34. That one-point margin stood in sharp contrast to the rest of the night's results. Milford beat Walled Lake Northern 53-14, Livonia Stevenson handled Walled Lake Central 45-10, and South Lyon took care of Walled Lake Western 35-14.
Saline opened Southeastern conference play with a 48-13 win over Ann Arbor Pioneer. Dexter beat Ann Arbor Huron 35-14, and Monroe dispatched Ann Arbor Skyline 37-6. In the OAA, Birmingham Seaholm topped Waterford Mott 41-20 and Rochester beat Bloomfield Hills 21-10.
The lone Thursday game outside the conference structure, Marine City Cardinal Mooney's 34-26 win over Southfield Bradford Academy, rounded out the evening.
Friday's schedule carried the bulk of the week's matchups, headlined by a Catholic League clash between Birmingham Brother Rice and Warren De La Salle Coll. The game was listed on the schedule without a final score at the time of publication. Detroit Country Day was set to face Dearborn Divine Child, and Toledo St. John's Jesuit (OH) traveled to Orchard Lake St. Mary's.
The Detroit PSL slate featured five games with 5 p.m. kickoffs. Detroit Cass Tech was scheduled to play at Detroit Southeastern, Detroit Cody hosted Detroit Central, Detroit Henry Ford met Detroit Mumford, Detroit King faced Detroit Renaissance, and Detroit Osborn took on Detroit Douglass.
The Downriver conference had four games on the Friday card. Lincoln Park traveled to Woodhaven, Southgate Anderson played at Allen Park, Trenton visited Dearborn Edsel Ford, and Wyandotte faced Taylor.
Huron conference play included Carleton Airport at Riverview, Grosse Ile at Flat Rock, Milan at Monroe Jefferson, and New Boston Huron at Monroe St. Mary CC.
The KLAA conference had eight games scheduled. Brighton played at Northville, Canton visited Novi, Dearborn went to Howell, and Dearborn Fordson hosted Belleville. Dearborn Heights Crestwood traveled to Westland John Glenn, Hartland visited Wayne Memorial, and Plymouth played at Salem. White Lake Lakeland was set to face Livonia Churchill in Lakes Valley action.
The MAC conference had the deepest Friday card with 18 games. Clawson visited New Haven, Eastpointe traveled to Warren Lincoln, and Grosse Pointe North played at Madison Heights Lamphere. Grosse Pointe South faced Clinton Twp. Chippewa Valley, Macomb Dakota went to Sterling Heights Stevenson, and Madison Heights Madison hosted Algonac. Marine City traveled to Clinton Twp. Clintondale, Marysville visited Warren Fitzgerald, and Port Huron went to Fraser. Romeo played at Utica Eisenhower, St. Clair Shores Lake Shore visited Sterling Heights, and St. Clair Shores Lakeview faced Roseville. St. Clair Shores South Lake traveled to St. Clair, Utica went to New Baltimore Anchor Bay, and Utica Ford visited Macomb L'Anse Creuse North. Warren Cousino hosted Harrison Twp. L'Anse Creuse, Warren Mott traveled to Port Huron Northern, and Warren Woods Tower faced Hazel Park.
MIAC action saw Auburn Hills Oakland Christian travel to Whitmore Lake and SH Parkway Christian play at Lutheran Westland.
The OAA had six Friday games. Auburn Hills Avondale visited Pontiac, Lake Orion traveled to Oxford, and Oak Park hosted Harper Woods. Rochester Hills Stoney Creek played at Troy, Royal Oak went to Waterford Kettering, and Troy Athens faced Clarkston. West Bloomfield traveled to Rochester Adams.
Southeastern conference games included Chelsea at Adrian, Pinckney at Jackson, and Ypsilanti Lincoln at Tecumseh.
Western Wayne action had three games with 6 p.m. kickoffs. Dearborn Heights Annapolis traveled to Garden City, Redford Union played at Dearborn Heights Robichaud, and Romulus visited Redford Thurston.
The remaining Friday games stretched across the state. Detroit Loyola traveled to Kalamazoo Loy Norrix, Detroit U of D Jesuit played at Center Line, and Detroit University Prep went to Flint Carman-Ainsworth. Detroit University Prep S&M visited Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard at 4:30. Livonia Clarenceville traveled to Melvindale, Madison Heights Bishop Foley faced Detroit Lincoln-King, and Melvindale ABT played at Clarkston Everest Coll. Mount Clemens traveled to Carson City-Crystal, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep visited Gibraltar Carlson, and River Rouge went to Muskegon. Saturday's schedule is lighter. Royal Oak Shrine plays at GPW University Liggett at 1 p.m. in Catholic League action. Ecorse travels to Detroit Voyageur College Prep and Hamtramck plays at Warren Michigan Coll. in charter conference play. The Lakes Valley conference wraps up the weekend with Farmington at Livonia Franklin.
