Lazio Get Boost as Trio Return for Bologna Trip
Three Lazio players have rejoined the squad ahead of their Serie A match against Bologna, giving manager Gennaro Gattuso a welcome boost.
The trio of Alessio Romagnoli, Gustav Isaksen, and Nuno Tavares have all returned from injury to join their teammates on the trip to Bologna. This comes after a disappointing start to the season, where Lazio were humbled by Mantova in the Coppa Italia.
The return of Romagnoli, who was out with muscle fatigue, is no surprise. However, the same can be said about Nuno Tavares, who has been a serious target for Porto and has been struggling with a knee problem. Gustav Isaksen, who underwent groin surgery in late June, has also rejoined the squad.
Despite their return, the three players have not yet reached their peak physical condition. This has been confirmed by Lazio's X (formerly Twitter) account, which posted a video of the team's flight from Rome to Emilia-Romagna on Sunday afternoon. Romagnoli and Isaksen both appeared in the video, but Tavares was not spotted.
The return of these players will be a welcome relief for Gattuso, who will be hoping for a better start to their Serie A campaign. However, Lazio remain without Danilo Cataldi, who is still recovering from groin surgery, as well as long-term absentees Patric and Samuel Gigot.
Meanwhile, new signing Josip Sutalo has not yet been added to the squad, having only completed his transfer from Ajax on Saturday.
The Coppa Italia defeat at the hands of Mantova has left Lazio with a lot to prove in their upcoming matches. With the return of these three players, Gattuso will be hoping that they can make a positive impact on the team's performance.
The match against Bologna is set to take place on Monday, and fans will be eagerly waiting to see how the team will perform with their new-look squad.
