The New York Knicks will open their NBA preseason campaign at Madison Square Garden on Monday night, hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves in a nationally televised game on NBA TV. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
The Knicks enter the matchup after a slow start to the preseason, having dropped their first two games against the Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Wizards last week. Jalen Brunson and Landry Shamet led New York’s scoring effort in the loss to Washington, but the Knicks were unable to hold on despite leading at halftime.
Minnesota arrives in New York following a mixed preseason showing. The Timberwolves secured a solid win over the Milwaukee Bucks but then fell to the Indiana Pacers in a game played on Iowa State’s campus. Minnesota’s starters exited in the third quarter of that contest. Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, and new addition LaMelo Ball have been the leading scorers for the Timberwolves so far.
Knicks fans can watch the game exclusively on DAZN within the team’s broadcast territory, while Timberwolves supporters in Minnesota also have access to a dedicated DAZN stream. The game is available nationally on NBA TV and through DIRECTV streaming services.
This preseason encounter is the first of two meetings between the teams before the regular season begins. The Knicks host the Toronto Raptors the following night before returning to face the Raptors again on October 15. Minnesota’s preseason schedule includes home games against the Detroit Pistons and away games at the Chicago Bulls after their visit to MSG.
New York, the reigning NBA champions, will be looking to find rhythm and consistency ahead of the 2026-27 regular season, while Minnesota hopes to make an early statement in the league with their revamped roster.
The Knicks’ next regular-season game after the preseason finishes will be against the 76ers on October 20, followed by a trip to Boston on October 23. The Timberwolves will start their regular-season schedule with back-to-back road games in Miami and Orlando on October 21 and 23.
Monday’s game at Madison Square Garden will be an early test for both teams as they finalize their lineups and rotations heading into the new NBA season.
