Kennebunk High to honor up to 14 sports legends in first Hall of Honor class

Kennebunk High School is set to honor up to 14 individuals in its inaugural Hall of Honor class on March 13, 2027. The new program aims to celebrate those who have shaped the school’s athletic history, including athletes, coaches, contributors, and teams recognized for their leadership, sportsmanship, and achievements.

The Kennebunk High School Athletic Department announced the launch of the Hall of Honor to preserve the legacy of its sports community while encouraging current and future student-athletes. The first class will include 10 athletes, two coaches, and two contributors selected from nominations submitted by alumni, former athletes, coaches, families, and local residents.

Nominations are now open and can be submitted online through the Hall of Honor form provided by the school. The Athletic Department has urged anyone connected to Kennebunk athletics to participate in the process, emphasizing the program’s role in acknowledging those who have made a lasting impact on the school’s sports programs.

The initiative reflects a broader effort by high schools across the country to recognize athletic achievements beyond wins and losses, focusing on character and influence within the community. Kennebunk’s program is designed to keep the history of its athletic achievements alive for years to come.

School officials have not yet revealed specific candidates or criteria beyond leadership, sportsmanship, and achievements. The Athletic Department remains the point of contact for additional information and nomination submissions.

The Hall of Honor celebration on March 13, 2027, will formally introduce the first class of inductees, marking the beginning of what the school calls a “new tradition” in acknowledging those who have contributed to Kennebunk High’s sports culture.
