Ohio State running back targets Jordan Hall and Tranard Roberts to announce decisions this weekend

Ohio State’s pursuit of running back recruits for its 2027 class is entering a decisive phase as two top prospects prepare to announce their decisions this weekend. Jordan Hall, a 3-star running back from Cincinnati Princeton, will reveal his choice on Saturday at 5 p.m. Meanwhile, Florida’s Tranard Roberts plans to make his call on Monday, October 26.

Hall, who climbed recruiting boards with a strong start to his senior year, has drawn interest from multiple programs but remains closely linked to the Buckeyes. Ohio State’s coaching staff has hosted him for several visits since extending their offer, hoping to secure a local talent. Penn State remains a significant competitor in his recruitment. Hall is currently ranked 852nd nationally and 60th among running backs in the 247Sports Composite. He announced the timing of his decision via Twitter on October 22, stating, “My commitment will be on saturday at 5 pm tune in!!”

Roberts, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound athlete, has trimmed his list of nearly 20 offers to four finalists: Georgia, Miami, North Carolina, and Ohio State. Among these, North Carolina holds the only Crystal Ball prediction, suggesting a likely commitment there. Roberts is ranked 576th nationally and 38th at running back according to the 247Sports Composite. His decision day is set for October 26, and he communicated the plan publicly on October 22.

Ohio State has also been active in expanding options at running back beyond Hall and Roberts. Kingston Allen, a current Wisconsin commit, received an offer after a recent campus visit, signaling the Buckeyes’ interest in bolstering the position regardless of earlier outcomes.

These moves come as Ohio State looks to fill remaining gaps in a class that has not fully met expectations at running back. Carlos Locklyn, Ohio State’s recruiting lead, has intensified efforts to secure talent late in the cycle. The final decisions from Hall and Roberts will clarify how the Buckeyes shape their backfield for the future.

Beyond running backs, Ohio State continues scouting for the 2028 class. Four-star offensive lineman Ty Winn from Monsignor Bonner recently caught the program’s attention. Standing 6-foot-8 and weighing 270 pounds, Winn ranks 169th nationally and 18th among offensive tackles in the 247Sports Composite. He is planning a visit to Ohio State next month, suggesting the Buckeyes are preparing early for the next recruiting cycle.

With several home games still on the schedule, Ohio State is expected to host more top prospects in the coming weeks. The running back decisions this weekend will provide a clearer picture of the 2027 class composition and the direction the coaching staff will take as the season progresses.
