Jaylen Brown jokes about Anthony Edwards’ off-court issues in Adidas response

Jaylen Brown took a sharp jab at Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards during a recent Twitch stream, responding to Edwards’ playful roast of him in an Adidas campaign video. Edwards had poked fun at Brown’s decision to stay with the Philadelphia 76ers instead of joining the Timberwolves, and Brown’s comeback targeted Edwards’ off-court reputation.

In the Adidas video, which has racked up around 90,000 views on YouTube and spread widely across social media, Edwards took aim at several NBA stars, including LeBron James, LaMelo Ball, and Jalen Brunson. Opening with a joke about LeBron’s move to the 76ers, Edwards then turned to Brown. “You see where big dawg ended up? He was going to join me in Minnesota, but I guess his knees couldn’t handle the cold weather,” Edwards said. He added a playful dig about Philadelphia’s barbershop culture, saying Brown and LeBron would bring “a whole lot of enhancements in the locker room,” though he clarified it was “no pun intended.”

Brown kept quiet on the video for weeks before addressing it on a stream with V.J. Edgecombe. He fired back with a cutting remark about Edwards’ personal issues. “Adidas doing anything for my boy. You need to give my boy some c******!” Brown joked, referencing Edwards’ off-court troubles without elaborating further.

Edwards, who has been signed with Adidas since 2020, was promoting his new sneaker, the Anthony Edwards 3, which launched on September 18. The campaign video was part of the build-up around that release.

The Timberwolves star has not yet responded to Brown’s comment. The two teams are set to meet in January, providing a potential stage for further exchanges between the players. Until then, fans can expect the back-and-forth to continue primarily online.

Edwards’ ability to blend humor with promotion in the Adidas video has attracted attention across NBA circles, and Brown’s quick-witted reply adds another layer to their growing rivalry. With the 76ers and Timberwolves both looking to make an impact this season, their interactions off the court may become as notable as their performances on it.
