The Jacksonville Jaguars' Week 2 preseason performance against the Carolina Panthers saw several players stand out, with Trebor Pena and Michael Wortham leading the offense with impressive grades from Pro Football Focus.
WR Trebor Pena earned a grade of 91.2, the highest on the team, after hauling in four receptions for 72 yards and a score. Wortham also had a strong game, catching all three of his targets for 41 yards. Their performances have been consistent throughout the preseason, with Pena shining in each game.
Pro Football Focus's grading system ranges from 39.9 or less (Poor) to 90.0+ (Elite). WR Josh Cameron and RB Ameer Abdullah also received high grades, with Cameron earning a 77.8 and Abdullah a 73.5. Cameron's performance has been impressive since joining the Jaguars, while Abdullah reminded fans not to forget him at the running back position.
On the defensive side, LB Amari Burney led the way with a grade of 82.1, recording three run stops and leading the defense in solo tackles. DE Zach Durfee's pass rush grade of 77.9 elevated his overall grade, while DE Bryan Thomas Jr. had a pressure and two stops in the run game.
Burney's performance was a highlight of the game, while Durfee and Thomas Jr. also had notable outings. S Caleb Ransaw had five tackles and didn't give up any completions in coverage, while LB Baylon Spector had four tackles, including a tackle for a three-yard loss.
Meanwhile, several players struggled in the game. LB Yasir Abdullah earned a grade of 28.3, struggling in coverage and giving up three receptions on three targets for 35 yards. DT Keivie Rose had a missed tackle and no pressures over 18 pass rush snaps, while DT Ruke Orhorhoro was quiet as a pass rusher and received a run defense grade of 39.6.
CB Preston Hodge allowed two completions on three targets for 21 yards, while TE Hunter Long was 0-for-1 when targeted and was credited with a dropped pass in the end zone.
The Jaguars' preseason performance will continue in Week 3, with the team facing off against the Miami Dolphins. The game will be an opportunity for players to continue to showcase their skills and for the coaching staff to make final roster decisions before the regular season begins.
