Sharp bettors favor Jaguars and Patriots as NFL Week 6 kicks off with London game

Sharp bettors have placed heavy wagers on the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots as the NFL’s Week 6 begins with the London game between Houston and Jacksonville. The Jaguars opened as 2.5-point favorites in the international matchup, and the line has held steady with bettors showing balanced, two-way interest.

At BetMGM sportsbooks, the Jaguars lead the public betting count by number of wagers, with the Patriots closely following. By total dollars wagered, the Bills, Patriots, Jaguars, Ravens, and Panthers top the list. The London game, kicking off at 9:30 a.m. ET Sunday, has drawn “good two-way action,” according to Thomas Gable, sportsbook director at The Borgata in Atlantic City. He noted the line “really hasn’t moved off that” initial -2.5 spread for Jacksonville, with the total hovering around 42 to 43 points.

Joey Feazel, Caesars Sportsbook’s head NFL trader, confirmed the Jaguars opened at -3 but have settled at -2.5. He said the total opened at 43 and has fluctuated slightly. Feazel anticipates “even come Sunday, there will be two-way action,” adding that “best-case scenario will probably be Jacksonville by 1 or 2.” Despite Houston’s poor record, bettors are backing both the Texans and Jaguars in equal measure.

The Patriots opened as 7-point favorites over the New York Jets, a side that has drawn significant public and sharp interest. The Patriots rank second in total wagers and dollars bet. Other teams attracting sharp money include the Buffalo Bills, who opened as 6-point favorites against the Las Vegas Raiders but have since seen the line drop to -4.5. The Raiders, who started the season 3-0, continue to command local support despite recent struggles.

Several other games have seen line shifts influenced by player news and betting patterns. The Panthers, who face the Philadelphia Eagles, have gained ground after the Eagles’ starting quarterback Jalen Hurts was ruled out. Feazel explained the Eagles were planning a pass-heavy offense but struggled without Hurts, leading to a swing towards the Panthers. The line moved from Eagles -2.5 to Panthers -3.5 after the injury news.

In Atlanta, the Bears and Falcons game has experienced fluctuating lines. Gable recalled opening Bears -1 before news on Caleb Williams’s potential return prompted a move to Bears -2.5. The line peaked at Bears -3 but has since dropped to Bears -1, with Atlanta money backing the Falcons at +3 and +2.5. Feazel observed the total rising from 49.5 to 51.5, with most action on the over, and expects more money on Atlanta and a slight need on the Bears to cover.

The Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys matchup has seen the favorite flip from Dallas to Green Bay. Gable said the Cowboys opened as -1 favorites but now the Packers are favored by a point. The total has climbed from 50.5 to 53. Gable noted “some respected money on the over, starting to balance out in terms of money at 53.” Feazel said the action is mostly on the total’s over, with slightly more money on Green Bay. He expects by kickoff the Packers will be favored and that the Cowboys will still draw public backing despite their recent Thursday night loss.

Other notable betting trends include heavy interest on the over in the Cowboys-Packers and Bears-Falcons games, with totals set high at 53 and 52 respectively. The Chargers at Chiefs game has seen more betting on the under at 41.5 points. Underdogs attracting the most wagers include the Chargers at +340, Cardinals at +525, Jets at +275, Commanders at +320, and Titans at +260.

Among touchdown scorers, Marvin Harrison Jr., Bryce Young, Josh Allen, Isaiah Likely, and Christian Watson lead the most-bet lists, with odds reflecting their expected roles.

The Week 6 NFL schedule continues Sunday with 13 games and concludes Monday night with the Washington Commanders visiting the San Francisco 49ers, who are favored by 7.5 points. The 49ers-Commanders total stands at 51.5.
