San Francisco Giants outfielder Harrison Bader's season has come to a premature end after a scooter accident last weekend left him with a foot injury.
Giants manager Tony Vitello confirmed that Bader will miss the rest of the 2026 season due to a pre-existing case of left plantar fasciitis, which wasn't helped by the scooter accident.
The accident occurred at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, when Bader crashed his scooter into a San Francisco Fire Department fire engine in the Marina District.
A witness reported that the wheel of the fire engine rolled over Bader's foot, causing major injury.
This isn't the first time Bader has been involved in a scooter incident, as he was suspended from the Florida baseball team in college for allegedly hitting a parked truck with his scooter.
Bader joined the Giants this offseason on a two-year, $20.5 million deal and has struggled to replicate his production from last season, where he won a Gold Glove award.
In his 30 games this season, Bader has slashed .170/.198/.358 with five homers and no stolen bases.
The Giants had previously released a statement saying a scooter accident had further injured Bader's foot and required further evaluation, with an MRI scheduled.
Bader was previously scheduled to see a specialist in Indianapolis on Monday to evaluate his plantar fasciitis, but it's unclear if that appointment will still go ahead.
Bader's season was already in jeopardy due to his ongoing plantar fasciitis issue, but the scooter accident has brought his campaign to an abrupt end.
The Giants will now have to look elsewhere for outfield support, with Bader's injury set to be a significant blow to their lineup.
