Chelsea’s sister club makes £30m bid for USMNT star Gio Reyna

Gio Reyna is in the sights of Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg, with the Ligue 1 side making a £30m bid for the United States men's national team star.

Strasbourg, owned by the same consortium as Chelsea, have reportedly entered into talks with Borussia Monchengladbach to sign Reyna this summer. The 23-year-old struggled with injuries throughout the 2025/26 campaign, making just 19 Bundesliga appearances and scoring one goal.

Reyna's disappointing season at Monchengladbach, where he contributed one goal and one assist, has raised questions about his future in the German top-flight. However, the American midfielder has shown glimpses of his talent in the past, and Strasbourg could be an ideal next step for him.

Competing with Julio Enciso for the No. 10 position at Strasbourg could be a motivating factor for Reyna to prove himself in Ligue 1. The 23-year-old has the talent to reach the highest level, but he needs to put in a strong performance to catch the eye of Chelsea's scouts.

Strasbourg's link to Chelsea could be a major advantage for Reyna, who may be thinking that a great season or two at the French club could lead to a move to West London. Christian Pulisic, a former Chelsea player, has shown that it's possible to make the switch from Strasbourg to Chelsea.

Reyna's future will become clearer in the coming weeks as Strasbourg continue their talks with Monchengladbach. If a deal is reached, it will be interesting to see how the 23-year-old adapts to the demands of Ligue 1.
