Newcastle United to Make £10m Bid for Chelsea's Fikayo Tomori

Newcastle United are set to make a £10m bid for AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori, according to reports.

The 28-year-old has been on Eddie Howe's radar for some time and has been identified as a key defensive target for the Magpies. Despite a challenging domestic campaign last season, Tomori has established himself as a key figure in Milan's defence, helping guide the club to a Scudetto title.

Tomori moved from Chelsea to AC Milan in January 2021, initially joining on loan before making the move permanent. His contract is entering its final stretch, with a June 2027 expiry date.

Newcastle are aiming to complete a deal for around £15m, but AC Milan are reportedly holding out for a financial package closer to €20 million.

The negotiations between the clubs are expected to continue over the coming days. Tomori played the first 45 minutes of Milan's 2-2 friendly draw against Celtic on Saturday, but could be left out of Wednesday's friendly against Inter Milan as speculation over his future intensifies.

The Englishman is understood to view a return to English football as an appealing next step in his career, provided the sporting project offers regular starting opportunities. However, it remains to be seen whether Newcastle's bid will meet AC Milan's asking price.

Tomori has six years of experience in Serie A under his belt, having established himself as a solid defender during his time in Italy. His Champions League experience will also be an attractive asset for Newcastle.

The deal is expected to be a straight transfer, with no other conditions attached. However, the negotiations between the clubs are expected to continue over the coming days.

The transfer window is heating up, and Newcastle United are making their move. Will they be able to land Tomori, or will AC Milan hold out for a better deal? Only time will tell.
