The FedEx Cup playoffs take place over the course of three tournaments, whittling down the competition to determine a champion for the season. Players earn points throughout the season, with more points available in majors compared to standard tournaments on the schedule.
The top 70 players earned a spot in the FedEx Cup playoffs, with Scottie Scheffler leading the standings with 4,123 points. Matt Fitzpatrick is in second place with 3,329 points, and Cameron Young is third with 3,161 points.
The St. Jude Championship will be a no-cut event, with players competing for points and a chance to advance to the next stage. The top 50 players will then move on to the BMW Championship, which will be a similar no-cut event.
The BMW Championship will be held at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri, from August 18-23. This marks the second time Bellerive hosts the BMW Championship, with the first coming back in 2008.
The TOUR Championship will conclude the FedEx Cup playoffs, with the winner taking home the title. The tournament will be held at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, from August 27-30.
Players are not automatically guaranteed a spot in the next stage of the playoffs, and some golfers who are guaranteed to advance to the next stage could choose to skip the current event. The FedEx Cup points system is designed to create a more even playing field, with players earning points based on their finish in each tournament.
