Grealish agrees Everton return as Ndiaye heads to City
Jack Grealish is set to complete a season-long loan return to Everton from Manchester City, with the 30-year-old scheduled for a medical before Tuesday's 23:00 BST transfer deadline.
The England winger spent a large chunk of last term at Goodison Park under a similar arrangement, scoring twice and providing six assists in 20 appearances before a foot injury in January ended his campaign. His preference was to return to the Merseyside club despite interest elsewhere, including from boyhood club Aston Villa.
Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear told BBC Radio Merseyside the club had "remained in contact" with Grealish throughout. The move comes as the Toffees prepare to lose Iliman Ndiaye, with City agreeing a £65m deal for the 26-year-old winger.
A busy deadline day at Goodison
Grealish's arrival is one strand of a frantic final day of business for Everton. The club also look close to signing Monaco and USA forward Folarin Balogun in a £40m deal, while their attempt to re-sign Brazil striker Richarlison from Tottenham appears to have stalled over personal terms.
Grealish joined City from Villa for £100m in August 2021. He has made two appearances for Enzo Maresca's side this season, coming on as a substitute in the Community Shield defeat by Arsenal before featuring off the bench in the Premier League opener against Bournemouth. He did not figure in Friday's 4-1 win at Crystal Palace.
Patterson could head to Serie A
Elsewhere, Everton defender Nathan Patterson could move to Torino before the deadline. Talks are under way between the clubs about a deal for the 24-year-old Scotland international, though it is not yet clear whether any transfer would be a loan or a permanent move.
The Grealish deal gives Everton a proven creative presence on the left flank as they reinvest the Ndiaye fee. The Senegal international's departure to the Premier League champions represents a significant outbound transfer for the Toffees, who have moved quickly to reshape their attacking options.
Grealish's previous spell at Everton was cut short by the January injury, but he had established himself as a regular starter under the club's coaching staff before that setback. His return adds experience to a squad that faces Manchester United at Goodison Park on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 14:00 BST.
The loan agreement means Grealish will spend the remainder of the campaign away from the Etihad Stadium, where he has struggled for regular starts under Maresca. City's willingness to sanction another temporary exit reflects the competition for places in their attacking department.
Everton's deadline-day activity continues to develop, with the Balogun deal still to be finalised and the Richarlison situation unresolved. The club's supporters will hope the Grealish announcement is followed by further confirmation before the window shuts.
