Atletico Madrid are set to make a significant move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, with the Spanish club prepared to offer the Serbia international €50m in a bid to secure his signature.
Atletico Madrid have been exploring the possibility of bringing Vlahovic to Spain on a free transfer, with the 26-year-old reportedly making the club his preferred destination.
Vlahovic has attracted interest from several clubs, including Manchester United, Barcelona, and Besiktas, but Atletico's approach could prove particularly appealing given his reported preference for the Spanish side.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Atletico since his time at Fiorentina, but ultimately opted to join Juventus for €70 million in January 2022.
Despite struggling for consistency during his four-and-a-half-year spell in Turin, Vlahovic has still managed to score 68 goals in 168 appearances for Juventus.
However, his recent form has been underwhelming, with only seven Serie A goals in 19 appearances last season as Juventus finished sixth.
Atletico's interest in Vlahovic could depend on the future of Alexander Sorloth, who has also emerged as a target for Fenerbahce.
The Turkish club is reportedly considering a move for the Norwegian, with Atletico discussing a loan deal containing a €35 million obligation to buy.
However, Atletico could potentially accommodate both forwards, although their similarities in style make that an unlikely long-term solution.
Sorloth and Vlahovic are both imposing, left-footed No.9s who thrive on physical battles and finishing chances inside the box.
But if Julian Alvarez, who has been angling for an exit, gets his wish, the club might have to stick with Sorloth and Vlahovic.
The transfer window is set to close on August 31, with Atletico needing to finalize their squad ahead of the new season.
If Atletico can secure the signing of Vlahovic, it would be a significant coup for the club, and a major boost to their attacking options.
