Daniel Suárez will remain behind the wheel of Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 Chevrolet through the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series season. The team officially announced a contract extension that ends weeks of speculation about the driver’s future.
Suárez joined Spire Motorsports ahead of the 2026 season after five years at Trackhouse Racing. His first year with Spire has been marked by a career milestone: winning the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May. That victory was the third Cup Series win of his career and his first in a crown-jewel event.
The driver’s consistency has also improved. Before the Charlotte race, Suárez’s average finish was 15.3, his best average over a 10-year Cup career. The results have strengthened his standing within the team and indicated that the partnership can deliver competitive performances.
The contract talks were ongoing throughout the season. After the Bank of America 400 at Charlotte, Suárez said an agreement was close but not finalized. The deal now gives him clarity about his future and allows him to focus fully on racing.
Spire Motorsports gains continuity by keeping Suárez for another season as it looks to develop its Cup Series program. Retaining a driver with experience and recent success offers the team a stable foundation amid NASCAR’s competitive environment.
Suárez’s move to Spire last year offered a fresh start, and his performance has justified the decision. The Coca-Cola 600 win proved he can still compete at the highest level, while his steady finishes suggest room to build further.
With the extension official, Suárez can dedicate himself to completing the 2026 season strongly and preparing for 2027. The deal secures his place in a team aiming to establish itself more firmly in NASCAR’s top tier.
