1 Cowboy Wide Receiver Sidelined After Suffering Scary Injury vs. Panthers

The Dallas Cowboys have been dealing with their fair share of training camp injuries, and on Monday, they had to add another name to the list as tight end Princeton Fant was forced to leave practice after suffering a scary injury.

Princeton Fant left the field on a cart after being pushed back into the accelerating running back Israel Abanikanda by edge rusher Sam Williams. The injury occurred on the first day of padded work, and Fant was helped off the field and eventually escorted from the field on a cart.

Fant is battling to be a depth piece for the Cowboys at a position without much certainty behind starter Jake Ferguson and No. 2 Brevyn Spann-Ford. Neither of the sure things for the roster offer tremendous offensive potential, leading to a lot of opportunity for TE3 and practice squad depth.

Fant has spent three seasons on the practice squad, experiencing a couple of game-day activations to help when injuries arose. This year, he's competing with the likes of UDFAs Michael Trigg (Baylor) and DJ Rogers (TCU) for a spot on the 53-man roster.

The injury is a setback for Fant, who was looking to make a push for a more significant role in the team. He's scheduled to get an MRI to evaluate the extent of the injury, and the Cowboys will be keeping a close eye on his progress.

Fant has shown resilience in the face of adversity, fighting to maintain a place on the roster despite being an undrafted free agent in 2023 out of Tennessee. He's been a valuable asset to the team, particularly during times of injury, and will be missed if he's unable to return to action.

The extent of the injury remains to be seen, and the Cowboys will be hoping for good news when Fant's MRI results are in. In the meantime, they'll be looking to other players to step up and fill the void left by Fant's absence.
