Chelsea have landed Italy international Giulia Dragoni in a reported €1.5m deal, with the 19-year-old midfielder signing a four-year contract with the Blues.
Giulia Dragoni's path to Chelsea began in Pro Sesto's academy before joining Inter Milan in 2020, where she made her senior debut shortly after her 16th birthday. Her performances caught Barcelona's attention, and she signed for the Spanish giants in January 2023.
The young midfielder made her senior Italy debut later that year and has since earned 25 caps for her country.
Dragoni broke into Barcelona's first-team squad during the 2023/24 campaign and was part of the Spanish side that won the quadruple. At just 17, she also received the inaugural Best Italian Golden Girl award.
She subsequently spent two seasons on loan at Roma, where she helped the team win Serie A and the Coppa Italia in the 2025/26 season. She scored seven goals and provided four assists in 22 league appearances, earning the Serie A Women Midfielder of the Year award.
Chelsea will hope that Dragoni's technical excellence and intelligent positional play will help them get back to winning ways next season. The Blues' 2026/27 WSL campaign gets underway on Saturday 5 September.
Giulia Dragoni spoke about her move to Chelsea, saying: "I still can't believe I have signed for Chelsea! When I was a child, not even in my biggest dreams did I think I would sign for Chelsea. It's unbelievable. I'm really excited."
Dragoni's signing is a significant coup for Chelsea, who will be hoping to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season. With her technical ability and experience in top European leagues, Dragoni is likely to be a key player for the Blues in the years to come.
Chelsea will be looking to build on the momentum gained by their women's team last season, and Dragoni's arrival will likely be seen as a major boost to their chances of success. The 2026/27 WSL campaign is set to be a highly competitive one, with several top teams vying for the title.
