Two Celtic Alums 1 Step from Champions League Glory
Celtic supporters have a lot to be proud of, as two of the club's former players are now one step away from Champions League glory.
Former Celtic defender Darren O'Dea, who joined Yaya Toure's coaching staff at Slovan Bratislava this summer, has progressed with his Slovakian club to the play-off round. O'Dea's side, Slovan, overcame Georgian outfit FC Iberia and Swedish champions Mjallby to set up a meeting with Slovenian champions Celje.
O'Dea's connection to Celtic will be familiar to supporters, who will remember the club's 5-1 thrashing of Celje at Parkhead in the Champions League two seasons ago.
Meanwhile, former Celtic youngster Armstrong Oko-Flex has also made significant progress with Bulgarian champions Levski Sofia. Levski eliminated a side Celtic know all too well, Kairat Almaty, with a 2-0 aggregate victory. Oko-Flex started both matches for Levski, who now face AEK Athens in the play-offs.
In other Celtic-related news, Bodo/Glimt survived a remarkable tie without new Celtic striker Kasper Hogh, eventually overcoming Union Saint-Gilloise 6-5 on aggregate after extra time.
Celtic, meanwhile, will enter the competition at the play-off stage, with Martin O'Neill's side preparing to host LASK Linz in the first leg in Glasgow next week.
