Ravens completed Cam Jurgens trade after pre-deal physical, avoiding Crosby’s setback

The Baltimore Ravens completed their trade for center Cam Jurgens after conducting his physical exam in Philadelphia, avoiding the setback that scuttled their previous deal for Maxx Crosby. Ravens doctors traveled to the Eagles’ training facility on Wednesday morning to examine Jurgens, clearing the way for the trade to be finalized the same day.

This approach differed from what happened in March when the Ravens attempted to acquire Crosby, a five-time Pro Bowler, from the Las Vegas Raiders. That deal collapsed four days after its announcement when Crosby failed his physical due to a left knee injury requiring offseason meniscus surgery. The Raiders then confirmed the Ravens had backed out of the agreement.

To prevent a similar outcome, Baltimore arranged to have Jurgens examined before making the trade official. The deal sent two future draft picks to Philadelphia in exchange for the 27-year-old center and a 2027 seventh-round pick. Usually, players travel to their new team for a physical after a trade is agreed, but this time the Ravens reversed that order, ensuring Jurgens passed his exam before finalizing the deal.

After the Crosby trade fell through, the Ravens signed defensive end Trey Hendrickson to a four-year contract worth $112 million in free agency. The Jurgens trade comes as Baltimore continues to adjust its roster ahead of the regular season.

Jurgens will not dress for the Ravens’ game this week as he is still in concussion protocol. The team expects him to be available for their Week 6 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

This trade completes Baltimore’s recent roster moves at the center position, with the team sending draft capital to Philadelphia and securing a player who had already cleared medical scrutiny before joining the squad.
