More than a dozen Denver Broncos players were absent from their 27-7 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 of NFL preseason.
The list of absent players includes quarterback Bo Nix, who is returning from a broken ankle suffered in January. Nix is expected to play in the team's upcoming home preseason games over the next two weeks.
Denver is now set to host the Green Bay Packers (Aug. 21) and Minnesota Vikings (Aug. 28) at Empower Field at Mile High to close out preseason.
Quarterback Bo Nix, who is returning from a broken ankle, was joined by other notable absentees, including wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, receiver Marvin Mims, running back J.K. Dobbins, tight end Nate Adkins, center Alex Forsyth, linebacker Jordan Turner, outside linebacker Dasan McCullough, and center Luke Wattenberg.
Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle's absence was due to a strain, while running back J.K. Dobbins and tight end Caleb Lohner cited unknown reasons. T tight end Caleb Lohner was also dealing with a knee injury.
The team will finalize a 53-man roster following preseason, which is expected to take place later this month. This roster decision will have significant implications for the Broncos' chances in the upcoming season.
In the meantime, the Broncos will continue to prepare for their upcoming home games, with quarterback Bo Nix expected to play in the team's next two matches.
