Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers Suffers Senior Exit Blow
Long-time Aston Martin engineer Tom McCullough will step aside from the team altogether, bringing an end to his over decade-long tenure with the F1 project.
McCullough has been with Aston Martin since the team was known as Force India, working trackside on performance elements of the racing outfit. He took on a role in the business arm of the team at the start of 2025, joining the senior leadership off the track.
Now, McCullough will finish out the current season with Aston Martin before leaving.
Meanwhile, the team is going through significant changes. Adrian Newey took over as team principal following Andy Cowell, who became the chief strategy officer. Newey has leadership experience, but this is his first time in this kind of role.
Aston Martin's season has not gone as planned, with terrible results and overall race performances. However, Newey remains optimistic about what the team can do in the future.
Newey attributed the team's growth to the challenges they faced last year. "The key one for us is that front-of-floor change," he said. "It gives everyone a different aero challenge to solve."
As the team continues to adapt, rumors have emerged that Aston Martin could hire someone to fully take over the team principal duties. However, until then, it will be up to Newey to steer the team forward.
The departure of McCullough marks another significant change within the team, following the departure of former team principal Mike Krack who assumed the Chief Trackside Officer role ahead of the 2025 season.
The team's future remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: the next few months will be crucial in determining the direction of Aston Martin's F1 project.
