Ashton Jeanty Suffers Scary Injury During Scorchers Preseason Practice

Reports emerged on Sunday that Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty suffered an apparent knee injury during preseason practice, leaving him unable to apply pressure to his right leg.

During the team period, Jeanty landed awkwardly while diving for a catch and had to be helped off the field by team trainers. This was after an otherwise uneventful practice for the Raiders.

Jeanty's injury is a significant concern for the franchise, as he proved to be a bright spot in an otherwise poor 2025 season. The second-year running back had an impressive rookie showing, posting 975 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns, while also adding 346 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.

He was named to the PFWA NFL All-Rookie Team for his efforts, and his absence would be deeply felt by the Raiders. There are four other running backs on the roster, but two of those are rookies, and the other two have little significant NFL experience.

Mike Washington Jr., who was a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, is currently listed as Jeanty's backup. He's earned 119 rushing yards through his first two preseason outings this year. However, the Raiders may need to look elsewhere for a reliable running back if Jeanty's injury keeps him sidelined for an extended period.

The Raiders will likely provide an update on Jeanty's status in the coming days, but for now, the team is left to worry about the potential loss of a key player.
