Angelo State will try to kick off its first winning streak of the season when it visits Midwestern State at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls on Saturday at 8 p.m. CDT.
The Rams enter the Lone Star Conference clash with a 2-4 overall record and 2-2 in conference play, aiming to build momentum after a series of uneven performances. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Maddox Maher, who will get his second start, completed 8-of-13 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns in his debut. His development will be crucial against a Midwestern State team known for its high-powered offense.
Midwestern State, ranked RV in the latest polls, has scored an average of 42.5 points per game, leading the Lone Star Conference on offense. Quarterback Kaden Brown has thrown for 2,121 yards and 16 touchdowns, making him a constant threat through the air. The Mustangs have a 4-2 record overall and 3-1 in conference play, coming off a 44-29 loss to Central Washington in their last outing.
Angelo State’s defense ranks third in the conference, allowing 25.7 points per game. They trail only Central Washington and UT Permian Basin in that statistic. The Rams have struggled to find consistency on offense, but their defense may be their best chance to keep pace with the Mustangs’ potent attack.
Both teams have already faced Central Washington and West Texas A&M this season. Midwestern State lost to Central Washington but beat West Texas A&M 41-31 in Week 3. Angelo State’s results against those teams have been mixed, highlighting the challenge of the upcoming game.
The game will be streamed on FloCollege and broadcast on 101.9 KWFR. The match is expected to be a test of Angelo State’s ability to contain Brown and the Midwestern State offense while trying to establish Maher’s rhythm under center.
Updates on injuries and game-day conditions will be posted as they become available ahead of kickoff.
