Ada Rallies from 5-Down to Top Glenwood-Lowry 7-5
In a stunning turn of events, Ada Post 26 staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Glenwood-Lowry 7-5 in the 39th annual Division II state tournament.
Glenwood-Lowry got off to a great start, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. However, Ada's resilient team refused to give up, capitalizing on 11 walks, two hit-by-pitches, and two Glenwood-Lowry errors to secure their victory.
Austin McCraven, the left-handed pitcher for Ada, went the distance for the win, striking out 10 and walking three, while allowing two hits and two unearned runs.
The win marked a significant turning point for Ada, propelling them into the state semifinals against Le Sueur-Henderson.
AJ Svec and Miles Wildman had hits for Glenwood-Lowry, but it was not enough to overcome the determined Ada team.
The game started at around 9:45 p.m. on Friday night due to heavy rains that pushed back the schedule.
The tournament has seen some exciting matches so far, with St. Cloud Chutes beating Rushford 7-0 and Parkers Prairie edging Ely 2-1.
Meanwhile, Le Sueur-Henderson beat Sleepy Eye 8-1, with Jack Miller going 2-for-3 with a double, three runs, and two RBIs.
In another closely contested match, Parkers Prairie's AJ Woodworth struck out 10 in a complete-game victory over Ely.
The Division II championship semifinals will see Ada face off against Le Sueur-Henderson at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the St. Cloud Chutes will play Parkers Prairie at 5 p.m.
The championship game is set for 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, with the winner of the semifinals advancing to the final match.
