Christian Günter grew up in Villingen-Schwenningen in the Black Forest and joined SC Freiburg’s academy as a teenager. He made his first-team debut in 2012 and has spent his entire career at the club, becoming captain and its record appearance maker in the Bundesliga.
A consistent, attacking left-back known for his crossing and loyalty, he played in the 2022 DFB-Pokal final. He has been capped by Germany and played at the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2020.
