Gleison Bremer, known simply as Bremer, grew up in Itapitanga in Bahia and began his career at AtlΓ©tico Mineiro. Torino signed him in 2018, and after a slow start he became one of Serie A’s best defenders, named the league’s defender of the season in 2021/22.
Juventus signed him in 2022. Strong, quick and aggressive, he became the leader of their defence and won the Coppa Italia in 2024. A serious knee injury in October 2024 kept him out for the rest of that season.
Bremer has been capped by Brazil.
Playing style
Bremer is a strong, fast and aggressive centre-back who is at his best in one-on-one duels. He attacks the ball in the air, tackles hard and has the recovery pace to cover for team-mates. At Torino, under Ivan JuriΔ’s man-to-man system, he became one of the best markers in Serie A, and that experience shaped the uncompromising style he brought to Juventus. With the ball he is simple and effective. His leadership in defence made him one of Juventus’s most important players, which is why his long injury absence in 2024/25 was felt so heavily.
International career
Bremer has been capped by Brazil and was included in their squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Competition for places in Brazil’s defence is intense, but his club form has kept him in contention.
Career in numbers
Bremer’s senior club career, which began in 2017, has so far brought 271 appearances and 28 goals for 3 clubs. His best scoring return came in 2022/23: 5 goals in 43 appearances for Juventus. So far in 2026/27 he has 2 goals in 6 appearances for Juventus. The full season-by-season record is in the Stats section of this profile.
