Joel Klatt issues warning to Ole Miss ahead of Florida game

Joel Klatt has cast doubt on Ole Miss’s ability to perform well against Florida following the Rebels’ recent victory over LSU. The Fox Sports analyst expressed his skepticism in a podcast appearance on Thursday, warning that Ole Miss could face a significant drop-off in their level of play.

“I don’t see a scenario where Ole Miss plays well,” Klatt said. “They were way too high. There’s got to be a come down from what Ole Miss is going to give us this week.”

Klatt singled out Florida’s running game as a particular threat to Ole Miss in the upcoming SEC clash. He praised Florida’s running back Jadan Baugh, calling him “one of the best, if not the best, back in the country.” The Gators, ranked 21st nationally, are eager to use the game at “The Swamp” in Gainesville to boost their standing in the SEC and make a case for the College Football Playoff.

The analyst pointed to Ole Miss’s “saving grace” as Trinidad Chambliss, but he expressed concern about the health of Ole Miss’s Kewan Lacy. The standout running back left the Rebels’ 32-24 win over LSU with a shoulder injury, and Klatt suggested that head coach Pete Golding might have to rely more on JT Lindsey in the backfield for this contest.

Florida has been building momentum under new head coach Jon Sumrall, and an upset over the No. 4 ranked Rebels would elevate their program significantly. The Gators are already making strides toward re-entering the SEC title race, and Klatt’s comments underline the confidence surrounding Florida as they prepare to challenge Ole Miss.

Ole Miss, meanwhile, is focusing on maintaining the energy from their recent win against LSU. Golding has signaled a shift in focus toward the Florida game, but Klatt’s warning illustrates the skepticism from some corners about whether the Rebels can sustain their high level of performance against a confident and improving Florida squad.
