Kyle Brandt criticizes media for ignoring the Raiders

Kyle Brandt wore a Raiders letterman jacket on Big Day ESPN and unleashed a fiery rant about how the media is ignoring the Las Vegas Raiders despite their strong start to the NFL season. The Raiders began 2-0, including a surprising win over the favored Los Angeles Chargers, yet Brandt pointed out the silence around their success.

“I want you to listen to the silence,” Brandt said. “Two games, two double-digit wins. And you hear that? That’s who's talking about the Raiders. That's who believes in the Raiders.”

He highlighted that while teams like the Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, and even the Chargers have playoff games this season, the Raiders have none, and yet they are not receiving the recognition. Brandt was particularly critical of the way the Chargers have been discussed post-defeat, contrasting it with the lack of attention given to the Raiders’ achievements.

“You slap the Chargers around a little bit, and it's all, ‘What's wrong with the Chargers?’ How about what's right with the Raiders?" Brandt said. "There is more talk about Mike McDaniels's sideline drip than Klint Kubiac's record. Nobody wants to hear about the Raiders. Believe me, I know. I've been on 26 football shows today, and I have not been asked about the Raiders once.”

Brandt named several popular football shows he appeared on during the day—Good Morning Football, Get Up, First Take, Cold Pizza, Rome is Burning, Beg Borrow and Deal, and Barstool Banter—none of which asked him about the Raiders.

He described the email from First Take’s production team, which was so long he couldn’t open it without Wi-Fi. It sought opinions on the Buccaneers, Panthers, and Steelers but contained no questions about the Raiders. “The 2-0 Raiders aren't even compelling enough to be First Take’s last take,” Brandt said. “What am I hot on? I'm hot on the bleepin’ Raiders. But nobody else is. And that's fine. That's good. That's great. Because you keep doing what Al intended. Just win, baby. Three words, 3-0, let's go!”

Brandt’s outburst makes clear he has bought into the Raiders’ early-season momentum. They now face a road test against the New Orleans Saints, a game that will further test the team’s claim to attention.
