Michael La Sasso made history in Indianapolis, becoming LIV Golf's youngest ever winner.
La Sasso, just 22, pipped Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau to the title on Sunday, ending on 18-under par after a round of 65. Rahm, who had already clinched his third consecutive season-long points title, finished a stroke behind after a costly bogey on his final hole.
Rahm's Legion XIII also sealed the season-long team championship, for a second year running. But whether Rahm will have an opportunity to defend those accolades remains in serious doubt.
LIV Golf's future is uncertain, with questions surrounding the breakaway series' return next season. The series lost its Middle Eastern funding earlier this year, and the fate of star players like Rahm and DeChambeau is critical. Speculation is swirling that many could seek to return to the PGA Tour.
"I think there's a lot of potential moving forward," said DeChambeau, after finishing the season-ender joint-third. "It's been an interesting ride, that's for sure." He also expressed hope for the future, saying "I have great thoughts about what could happen next year."
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the series, La Sasso's victory is a testament to the talent on display in Indianapolis. The young player executed a perfect chip on the final hole for a tap-in birdie and victory, securing the lowest prize money pot of the season.
The Indianapolis prize money pot was roughly half the usual LIV amount, with $10 million spread across players. La Sasso took home just over $2 million for his win.
Organizers have insisted that a "LIV 2.0" will emerge, with a slimmed-down schedule, smaller prizes and new investors. But it remains to be seen if this will be enough to secure the series' future.
"I'm going to be real with it," said DeChambeau. "You know, not everything was perfect. But for the most part, we've done a solid job." He added: "I think there's something fun coming."
The LIV Golf team championship event in Michigan, which had been scheduled for next week, was canceled, meaning the Indianapolis event concluded the 2026 campaign. The fate of the series, and its star players, remains uncertain.
