Teofimo Lopez Faces Off Against Rolly Romero in Tonight's WBA Title Fight
Teofimo Lopez will be looking to become a three-division champion in his welterweight debut tonight, facing off against Rolando "Rolly" Romero in the WBA title fight.
Romero, a two-division titlist, has not fought since upsetting Ryan Garcia in May 2025 to capture the WBA (Regular) welterweight crown. He was elevated to full WBA champion this past August after Jaron Ennis vacated his titles and moved up to super welterweight.
Romero formerly held the WBA super lightweight title from 2023 until he lost it to Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz in 2024. He unsuccessfully challenged Gervonta "Tank" Davis in 2022 for the WBA (Regular) lightweight belt.
Lopez, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from a loss to Shakur Stevenson this past January, when he was comprehensively outboxed and lost his WBO super lightweight title. "The Takeover" formerly won the unified lightweight titles after upsetting modern-day great Vasiliy Lomachenko in 2020.
Lopez's fight with Stevenson was the last of his deal with Top Rank. He has since signed directly with broadcaster DAZN and is working with PBC for Saturday's fight.
The main card starts at 8 p.m. ET on DAZN PPV, DAZN Ultimate, and Amazon Prime Video PPV, with main event ring walks expected around 11 p.m. ET. The Romero vs. Lopez fight is the centerpiece of a stacked card, which also includes a WBA interim super bantamweight title fight between Victor Santillan and Gary Antonio Russell.
Lopez will be looking to prove himself in a new division, and a win over Romero would cement his status as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
