Richard T. Lee Stands Tall After Day 2 of LIV Golf Indy
Richard T. Lee has taken a one-stroke lead after Day 2 of LIV Golf Indy, shooting 11-under par at Chatham Hills in Westfield.
Lee followed up a strong first round with a 4-under par 66 on Friday, moving his total score to 11-under par. This puts him ahead of Thomas Detry, who shot 6-under par on the same day. Detry's teammate Thomas Pieters shot 5-under par, helping 4Aces shoot 18-under as a team.
Lee's success on the course has been a long time coming. He became the first Canadian-born player to join LIV in January, after winning the Black Diamond Ranch tournament. This win earned him a spot on the main tour through the LIV Golf Promotions series.
Lee's strategy has been to pick up as many tips as he can from the big names on the tour. He's been working on his irons and using his time around players like John Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau to his advantage.
Meanwhile, 4Aces are led by close friends Pieters and Detry. The two have a competitive friendship that fuels their play on the course. Detry credits their friendship with driving their success, saying, "Yeah, we go a long way. We've sort of followed the same path since we started really."
On Tuesday, Lee credited his wife with picking his walk-up song, "Gold Digger" by Kanye West. He's been open about his goal of having a big victory, saying, "I don't want to think too ahead for myself, but yeah, definitely a victory would be amazing."
The next two days of the tournament will be crucial for Lee's chances of taking home the prize money. If he continues his strong play, he could be in for a big surprise โ not just for himself, but for his wife as well.
