WNBA star Sophie Cunningham and the Indiana Fever hit the court at the American Airlines Center to take on the reigning Rookie of the Year Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings for the second time in a week on Thursday night.
Ahead of Thursday's game, Cunningham proved that none of the outside noise can keep her down. She pulled up to the American Airlines Center with a smile on her face, while rocking a "sporty chic" look that she showed off on TikTok before heading to the arena.
Cunningham has been making headlines on social media and in the news since voicing her thoughts on transgender athletes in women's sports. That led to some backlash, but Cunningham has doubled-down on her comments and was unapologetic with what she said.
The win evened the series 1-1, with the trilogy showdown set for primetime on Prime Video. Indiana scored an 11-point victory, 98-87, in their second meeting with the Dallas Wings on Friday, August 14.
This season, Cunningham is averaging 8.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, while shooting a lights out 45.8 percent from behind the arc. She's one of the front-runners to win the Sixth Player of the Year Award.
Meanwhile, protests and rallies have taken place outside of Fever games, with people from both sides of the issue voicing their views. Cunningham, however, is moving forward with her focus on the court.
The series will continue with the trilogy showdown set for primetime on Prime Video. The game is expected to be a highly anticipated matchup between Cunningham and Bueckers.
