Charlie Woods Returns to TPC Sawgrass for Junior Players Championship
Charlie Woods is set to take another crack at TPC Sawgrass and its iconic Island Green, as he has been added to the field for The Junior Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra from Sept. 3-6.
Woods, a senior at Benjamin School and son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, finished 31st in last year's Junior Players, carding a hole-in-one on hole No. 3 in his final round. He will be looking to recapture some of the form he showed during his breakout 2025 junior campaign, which saw him rise into the top 10 of the American Junior Golf Association's Rolex rankings.
So far in 2026, Woods' best finish in a junior golf tournament is tied for 19th at the Junior Orange Bowl International Championship in January. His AJGA ranking has dropped to No. 306 as most of his 2025 performances have aged out of the ranking statistics.
Giuseppe Puebla, a University of Florida commit, and Ryan Nana Tanke, an SMU commit, will join Woods as Palm Beach County representatives in the Junior PLAYERS field. Puebla, ranked No. 7 in the latest AJGA rankings, competed in the U.S. Open earlier this year after qualifying in Palm Beach Gardens.
Nana Tanke, who has been one of the county's top risers over the last calendar year, will bring his recent successes to the tournament. He has won the AJGA Lake Charles Junior Championship in April and finished sixth at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in May.
Woods' appearance at the Junior Players Championship is a notable one, given his father's history at TPC Sawgrass. Tiger Woods has competed in the Players Championship numerous times, with his most famous win coming in 2001.
The Junior Players Championship is a prestigious junior golf tournament, with a strong field of competitors. Woods and his fellow participants will be vying for the top spot in the event.
The tournament is set to take place from Sept. 3-6 at TPC Sawgrass, with Woods and the rest of the field looking to make a strong impression.
