Kansas City, Missouri – Royals secure a crucial 3-1 win thanks to Jac Caglianone's heroics.
Jac Caglianone made history with his four extra-base hits, including a 448-foot home run, to propel the Kansas City Royals to a crucial 3-1 win over the Chicago Cubs.
The Royals' offense was ignited early when Caglianone hit a home run in the first inning, giving the team an immediate lead. This was his longest home run of the season so far.
The team's pitching also played a crucial role, with Seth Lugo delivering a quality start by allowing just three runs in six innings. Lugo's control was much better, as he only walked one and struck out five.
Caglianone's impressive night continued in the bottom of the second when he added a double off the top of the left field wall. However, he couldn't score in that instance.
In the bottom of the third, Bobby Witt Jr. reached base on an infield single, and Caglianone ripped an RBI double down into the right field corner.
The bullpen ultimately didn't allow any runs, but it felt a lot better in the eighth and ninth with those insurance runs protecting the lead.
Bobby Witt Jr.'s impressive defensive play was also notable, as he made a ridiculous play during the game.
The Royals will try to win the series tomorrow afternoon, with Randy Dobnak facing off against Matthew Boyd. The game will be aired on Royals.TV.
