Byron Young's Rams Career Takes a Turn as Myles Garrett Eyes Partnership
Myles Garrett is eyeing a partnership with Byron Young to take their defensive line to the next level.
For the last two seasons, Young and Jared Verse led the defensive attack for the Los Angeles Rams. Verse was moved in the trade to acquire Garrett, who is tasked with taking down the quarterback. However, Garrett's focus is on building a relationship with Young and being that piece that Verse used to be.
"I've really taken a notice into his game last year when he started off so hot and him and Jared Verse were working so well and really complemented each other," Garrett said of Young. "That's when I really started to watch his tape and since then I just continue to watch. Getting the chance to play with him, it's like, how can I help elevate and play off him and take his game to another level?"
Garrett led the NFL in sacks last season, setting a league record with 23. Young led the Rams in sacks during that time with a career-high of 12. Young also approached the NFL record for the most consecutive games recording at least half a sack with nine last year.
The Rams have a history of finding successful defensive line partnerships, with Young and Verse being a notable example. The two formed a close relationship off the field, which helped them deliver results on the field. With Garrett now joining the team, it seems the Rams have once again found a partnership that is spearheaded by selfless pursuits of team greatness.
Garrett's addition to the team is a significant one, and it will be interesting to see how he and Young develop their partnership. The two will need to work together seamlessly to take down quarterbacks and help the Rams achieve their goals.
The Rams' defensive line is looking strong, and with Garrett and Young forming a partnership, it's hard to see how they won't be a force to be reckoned with this season.
