The Geovani Silva Football Development Center, inaugurated by the CBF, bears his name, and it's a fitting tribute to a star who won the 1999 Campeonato Capixaba playing for the club of the same name in his hometown of Serra.
The Development Center, located about 30 km from the state capital, Vitória, is not only a testament to Geovani's football career but also a symbol of his humility, resilience, and discipline. His son, Geovani Filho, was present at the inauguration ceremony and expressed his pride and comfort in knowing that his father's name will be associated with such an important training center for Espírito Santo.
Geovani Silva was a standout player for Vasco da Gama, where he is considered an idol, and for several clubs in Espírito Santo. He also made history with the Brazilian National Team, winning the South American and FIFA U-20 World titles in 1983, the silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, and the 1989 Copa América.
The tribute to Geovani Silva has brought comfort to his family, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of football players in Espírito Santo. President of the Espírito Santo State Football Federation, Gustavo Vieira, described Geovani as a "champion in life," highlighting his dedication to football and his community.

A 1994 World Cup champion with Brazil and a friend of the Espírito Santo star, Branco attended the ceremony and praised Geovani both as a person and as a player. Branco remembered Geovani as a "spectacular and very humble" player who was "serious, a great professional, and a great family man."
The inauguration of the Geovani Silva Football Development Center is part of a larger initiative by the CBF to establish Development Centers in various states in Brazil. Since July last year, centers have been inaugurated in Espírito Santo, Rondônia, Tocantins, Amapá, Santa Catarina, and Sergipe, providing a platform for children to begin sports practice, referee training, and other football-related activities.
The Development Centers have the structure needed to host events for children, referee training, courses for administrators, doctors, and coaches, as well as amateur, youth, and professional football competitions, both men's and women's. Each center has a synthetic turf field built to FIFA Quality standard dimensions, team and referee locker rooms, stands, medical and administrative areas, parking, and storage space.
The DCs were built with resources from the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 Legacy Fund, and they will undoubtedly continue to make a positive impact on the football community in Espírito Santo and beyond. As the football world continues to evolve, it's clear that Geovani Silva's legacy will endure, inspiring future generations of football players and fans alike.
