Tony Romo's Troubled Night: Bodycam Footage of Former NFL Quarterback's Arrest Released
Bodycam footage from the arrest of former Cowboys quarterback and CBS analyst Tony Romo has emerged, revealing a troubling series of events that culminated in his detention.
TMZ has obtained and published bodycam video and audio from both his initial traffic stop and his field sobriety test.
Romo was pulled over on a busy highway and a bridge, and the deputy explained that she would take him to a level area for the test. In the second video, Romo conducts the test in bare feet, but seems to not understand the instructions for a fairly simple heel-to-toe walking exercise.
"Do you understand the instructions?" he's asked.
"No," Romo says. "I don't. There's too many."
Romo then explains that he has had "two back surgeries" before engaging in the heel-to-toe walking test. With each step, his heel lands far in front of his toe.
Romo also struggles with standing on one leg, initially unable to decide which leg to use. After he picks his left leg, Romo uses his arms to help balance himself.
After the deputy stops the test, Romo is asked if he'll submit to breath testing. "We're not doing that," Romo says. "I hear from all the lawyers, 'Don't ever do that.' So we're not gonna do that."
Romo then asks, "Did I pass this test?"
"Turn around," the deputy replies.
"No, I didn't. Huh?"
As the arrest process begins, Romo asks if he can make a call because "there's a plane taking off." He is then told he's under arrest.
Romo's arrest is a stark contrast to his successful broadcasting career with CBS. As a former NFL quarterback, he was known for his accuracy and poise on the field.
However, it seems that Romo's ability to navigate a field sobriety test left much to be desired. His struggles with the test and his subsequent arrest raise questions about his judgment and decision-making.
The incident has sparked widespread media attention, with many fans and followers taking to social media to express their shock and disappointment.
The outcome of Romo's arrest is still unclear, but one thing is certain: the bodycam footage has given fans a glimpse into a side of the former quarterback that few had ever seen before.
