Ryan Gravenberch grew up in Amsterdam and came through Ajax, becoming their youngest-ever first-team player at 16. He won Eredivisie titles before moving to Bayern Munich in 2022.
He struggled for playing time in Munich, and Liverpool signed him in 2023. Under Arne Slot in 2024/25, he was moved into a deeper midfield role and became one of the best midfielders in the Premier League as Liverpool won the title.
Gravenberch is a Netherlands international.
Playing style
Gravenberch is a tall, elegant midfielder who carries the ball with long, gliding strides. He is technically excellent, comfortable under pressure and able to beat opponents with dribbles or quick passes. Under Arne Slot he was moved into a deeper role as the team’s No. 6, and his improvement in reading the game and winning the ball back made him one of the best midfielders in the Premier League during Liverpool’s 2024/25 title win. His development from a talented but inconsistent young player into a key starter was one of the stories of that season.
International career
Gravenberch made his Netherlands debut in 2021 and played at Euro 2020. He has been part of several squads since, competing for a place in a strong Dutch midfield.
Career in numbers
Gravenberch’s senior club career, which began in 2018/19, has so far brought 274 appearances and 23 goals for 3 clubs. His most productive season in front of goal was 2025/26, when he scored 6 times in 50 games for Liverpool. The full season-by-season record is in the Stats section of this profile.
