Archie Goodwin and Kahlil Whitney scored crucial baskets down the stretch to lead La Familia to a 70-66 win over Boeheim's Army in The Basketball Tournament on Sunday.
The comeback victory marked a major redemption for both Goodwin and Whitney, who had their time at the University of Kentucky Wildcats cut short in heart-wrenching fashion three years ago.
Goodwin's 30 points and six rebounds, along with five assists and two steals, were instrumental in securing the win. He also had two big-time buckets in the Elam Ending to seal the deal.
Darryl Morsell chipped in with a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds for La Familia. The performance marked a strong showing for the alumni team in the tournament.
Whitney, who left the UK team in January, has been playing well throughout the tournament, setting the stage for a strong finish with his teammates.
La Familia's championship run is not over yet. The team will face either Kansas or Wichita State at Historic Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday for the alumni team championship.
The matchup is scheduled for 7 PM ET, with coverage on FS1.
