Portsmouth have landed a significant coup in the transfer market by signing Serbian striker Marko Milovanovic for a reported £3m.
Marko Milovanovic, 22, has agreed a four-year deal at Fratton Park, with the deal understood to be in excess of £3m. The striker started his career at Serbian side Partizan Belgrade before moving to Spanish side Almeria in 2022, where he played 35 times in total, scoring three goals.
Milovanovic spent last season on loan at FC Alverca in Portugal's top tier, where he impressed with 10 goals in 32 appearances. Pompey boss John Mousinho is clearly excited about the signing, saying, "He has the physical attributes required to compete in English football, but is also someone comfortable with the ball at his feet. His goal return in Portugal last season was impressive and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do for Pompey as we try to build on our past two campaigns in the Championship."
The signing of Milovanovic brings the number of Portsmouth's summer signings to five, with the club continuing to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The deal is part of a significant investment in the transfer market, with the upfront fees for Milovanovic and Rocco Shein combining to exceed £5m.
The increased budget has been a key factor in Pompey's ability to attract top talent, with the club's fans eager to see the new signings in action. However, there are still several positions that need to be filled, with a holding midfielder, a left-back, potentially another centre-back, and a right winger all on the club's wishlist.
A return for Abu Kamara is also a possibility, with the striker's deal still in the balance. While there are still some hurdles to overcome for that deal to happen, it would be a major coup for the club, and would undoubtedly excite the supporters.
