Carson Schwesinger and Grant Delpit return to Browns practice ahead of key Titans matchup

Carson Schwesinger and Grant Delpit returned to Cleveland Browns practice this week, setting the stage for their availability against the Tennessee Titans. Both defenders appeared on the NFL injury report on Thursday as probable, signaling their readiness to contribute after dealing with injuries.

Schwesinger, the linebacker who earned the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2025, has been sidelined with an ankle problem. He has made an impact this season with 22 solo tackles, one sack, and two forced fumbles. His presence complements edge rusher Jared Verse, the 2026 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year who Cleveland acquired from the Los Angeles Rams in June. The Browns’ defensive unit has benefited from having these two young award winners on the field together.

Delpit, the Browns’ safety, has also been a steady presence when healthy. Through six games, he has recorded 25 tackles including 17 solo stops, three passes broken up, one interception, and a sack on a safety blitz against Tampa Bay on September 20. His return adds another layer to Cleveland’s defensive backfield as they prepare for a challenging matchup.

Cleveland’s 4-2 record places them in a three-way tie atop the AFC North standings. This strong start follows a surprising trade over the summer, when the Browns sent longtime defensive star Myles Garrett to the Rams in exchange for Verse. While Garrett appeared destined to join a Super Bowl contender, Cleveland currently holds the better record compared to Los Angeles, which sits at 2-4.

Head coach Todd Monken has overseen a team that has gelled quickly, with the defense improving as Schwesinger and Delpit return. Their availability against Tennessee offers a chance to extend the Browns’ winning streak and improve to 5-2.

The Titans will test Cleveland’s defense, but having Schwesinger and Delpit back gives the Browns more options on both linebacker and safety. The team’s ability to keep their defensive rookies on the field could be a significant factor as the AFC North race tightens.
