Stone Garrett, former Major League Baseball player and Fort Bend County native, is opening a Jetset Pilates studio in Missouri City this Saturday, October 24. The 2,400-square-foot facility at 10040 Highway 6, Suite 200, will operate seven days a week and is expected to create 18 local jobs.
Garrett, who played for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Washington Nationals, turned to reformer Pilates while recovering from an injury sustained in 2023. "After my injury, reformer Pilates was really the only workout I could do," Garrett said in a statement. He added that the injury was "pretty much a career-ending injury," but Pilates helped him regain fitness and return to the field. Following his retirement, Garrett saw a gap in access to reformer Pilates in Fort Bend County, particularly Missouri City, and wanted to bring the workout to his hometown.
The new Jetset Pilates studio will feature 14 reformers, 10 instructors, 50-minute classes, and DJ-curated music, according to a news release. Bertus Albertse, CEO of Jetset Pilates, praised Garrett’s dedication and local roots. "Stone's story is a powerful example of what reformer Pilates can do, both for elite athletes and for anyone working to get stronger," Albertse said. "His drive, discipline and deep roots in Fort Bend County make him exactly the kind of franchise partner we want representing JETSET as we grow in the Houston area."
Jetset Pilates, founded in 2010, has expanded rapidly with over 400 studios open or in development across the U.S., the U.K., and Australia. The Missouri City studio is part of the company’s continued growth in the Houston area, joining existing locations in Katy, Richmond, and Sugar Land. Another studio is set to open on the same day at 122 Vintage Park Blvd., Suite G.
Garrett’s transition from professional athlete to studio owner reflects a broader trend of sports figures turning personal recovery into business ventures. His experience with reformer Pilates during injury rehabilitation offers a practical example of the workout’s benefits beyond professional sports.
The Missouri City studio is positioned to provide the community with access to Pilates training that Garrett credits with aiding his comeback. The launch event on October 24 will mark the latest chapter in Jetset Pilates’ expansion and Garrett’s post-baseball career.
