Texas State baseball will open its 2027 season on February 21 with a three-game series against Oakland as it embarks on its first campaign in the Pac-12 Conference. The Bobcats announced a 56-game regular-season schedule that includes home-and-home series against Texas, Texas A&M, and Baylor, plus a trip to Oklahoma State before participating in the Round Rock Tournament later in February.
The Bobcats will host 33 games at Irvine-Rasmussen Ballpark in San Marcos, Texas, according to a news release issued last week. Their first Pac-12 weekend series begins on April 9 with a home matchup against Gonzaga. Texas State also faces Oregon State, Washington State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Gonzaga, and Dallas Baptist as part of its new conference slate.
The schedule features the I-35 Rivalry with UTSA, with Texas State hosting on March 30 and traveling to San Antonio on April 13 to complete the series. The Bobcats will host Houston in May as part of non-conference play.
Texas State enters the 2027 season after finishing 37-26 in 2026, a year in which they set a program record with 116 home runs. That campaign included an NCAA tournament appearance in the College Station regionals, where they upset USC in their opening game before being eliminated. The team returns several key players, including catcher Clayton Namken, outfielder Jaquae Stewart, utility player Ethan Farris, infielder Tanner Carson, outfielder Jackson Cotton, and left-handed pitcher Jesus Tovar.
Jackson Cotton was pictured swinging during a March 21, 2026 game against Louisiana at Bobcat Ballpark, highlighting his role heading into the new season. The Bobcats' move into the Pac-12 brings intensified competition but also maintains traditional Texas rivalries that will draw local and regional interest.
The 2027 schedule balances conference challenges with established rivalries, providing a full slate of test matches as Texas State adjusts to Pac-12 baseball. The release did not provide further details on postseason aspirations or additional tournament invitations beyond the Round Rock Tournament.
The Bobcats’ first official Pac-12 game will come at home against Gonzaga on April 9, setting the tone for their debut in the conference.
