Franklin ended an 11-year absence from the TSSAA volleyball state tournament with a straight-sets victory over Green Hill on October 15, securing a spot in the state quarterfinals. The Admirals won 3-0 in the Class AAA sectional and extended their winning streak to 23 games, riding a season record of 30-1.
Franklin will face Dobyns-Bennet at 2:30 p.m. on October 20 at Siegel High School in Murfreesboro. The team is undefeated since August 22 and has maintained a perfect 14-0 record in District 10-AAA, known for its competitive volleyball programs.
Coach Makayla Beebe credited the team’s hard work throughout the season for putting them in a strong position. “We have fought really hard all season long, and that has put us in a really good position,” she said.
This marks Franklin’s sixth qualification for the state tournament, though the program has yet to secure a state title. The current squad features four college recruits, including three juniors—Jorden Robinson, Ellyson Fogle, Emmy Garner—and senior Brynn Pennington. Many players have developed their chemistry over years of playing together, some since fifth grade.
Beebe emphasized the importance of focusing on the present moment. She urged her team, which includes only five seniors, to concentrate on playing without worrying about past mistakes or future outcomes. “Live in the moment,” she said.
The challenge of competing in District 10-AAA has prepared Franklin for the state tournament’s demands. Robinson, a junior middle hitter committed to Wake Forest for 2028, acknowledged the pressure but maintained confidence. “Everybody is coming for us, but we’re coming for them, too,” she said.
Franklin’s return to the state stage ends a long wait for postseason triumph. The team’s sustained dominance throughout the season and their collective experience position them as a serious contender in the upcoming quarterfinal match against Dobyns-Bennet.
