India’s Shreyas Iyer has climbed to a career-best fourth place in the latest ICC T20 International batting rankings after a strong start to the ongoing home series against the West Indies. Iyer’s rise follows his maiden T20I century in the series opener in Lucknow, boosting India’s dominance of the top four spots in the ICC rankings.
The ICC confirmed in a press release that India now hold three of the top four positions. Ishan Kishan is ranked first, while Abhishek Sharma sits second. Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan, who recently reached a career-best rating after performances against Sri Lanka, occupies third place.
Iyer’s century in the opening match was a key factor in his leap up the rankings, moving three places higher than his previous best. The innings came early in the five-match series, where India have taken a commanding lead.
Other players made significant moves in the latest T20I rankings. Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis improved three spots to 23rd, while West Indies’ Sherfane Rutherford jumped 13 places to joint 24th. India’s Sanju Samson also advanced four places to joint 27th.
Pakistan’s Maaz Sadaqat made a notable climb from outside the top 100 into 45th place after his performances in the recent three-match series against Sri Lanka.
On the bowling and all-rounder fronts, West Indies all-rounder Roston Chase moved up 24 places to 23rd among bowlers and advanced to third among all-rounders following his efforts against India. Pakistan’s Salman Mirza rose nine spots to 14th in the bowling rankings, and teammate Saim Ayub gained eight places to 54th.
Turning to Test cricket, India’s Ravindra Jadeja maintained his lead among all-rounders. South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder moved up one place to fourth, and Simon Harmer climbed five spots to joint 23rd after the recent series against Australia.
Australia’s 214-run victory over South Africa in the first Test at Kingsmead in Durban also influenced the latest ICC Test rankings. Matthew Renshaw, who scored 190 in the first innings and 82 in the second, earned Player of the Match honours and jumped from outside the top 100 to joint 49th in the Test batting rankings.
Marnus Labuschagne, a former world No. 1 Test batter, climbed four places to 34th, while South Africa opener Aiden Markram gained four spots to joint 10th.
India’s strong showing in T20I batting rankings reflects the impact of recent performances, with Iyer’s breakthrough century and the presence of Kishan and Sharma solidifying India’s position at the top. The ongoing series against West Indies continues to influence player rankings across formats.
