Dalton Schultz caught both of his targets for a total of nine yards in the Houston Texans’ 20-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. After a breakout performance earlier this season, Schultz’s production has dropped sharply in recent games.
Schultz’s career highs came in Week 2 against Cincinnati, where he recorded 12 receptions on 14 targets for 140 yards. Since then, his output has declined, with only five catches for 39 yards across the two games following that performance. Against Dallas, Schultz was held in check by his former team, managing just two receptions.
The tight end has recorded three or more catches in 13 of his last 14 games, indicating consistent involvement. However, his overall yardage and impact place him as a middling TE2 option rather than a top-tier fantasy or offensive threat.
The Texans’ narrow loss to the Cowboys showed that Schultz remains a target for the offense but has yet to replicate the volume or yardage of his Week 2 peak. The coaching staff and quarterback will likely need to find ways to get him more involved if Houston wants to improve its passing attack.
As it stands, Schultz’s recent performances suggest he is a reliable but limited option in the Texans’ receiving corps.
